The five best seafood restaurants in the Maremma
If you have decided to take a vacation in the Maremma, sooner or later the question of the best fish restaurants in the Maremma arises
Since insider tips for southern Tuscany are rare, I would like to bring a little more “light into the darkness” today and tell you about my five favorites that make a vacation by the sea complete.
PUNTONE
Just south of Follonica, right in the Scarlino marina, is Beccofino, which opened just 3 years ago. It’s an addition to the existing restaurant in Follonica and a little more elegant and upmarket, and the quality of the kitchen and the professional service are the same as ever. Regular events ensure the right swing.
At the very end of the road from Puntone, at the top of the hill, right at the entrance to the hiking trail to Cala Violina is Il Cantuccio with a wonderful view over the sea to Follonica. The atmosphere is as simple and attractive as the menu. The selection is easy here. I particularly like its original charm; it’s like being at home with Mamma Italia in the kitchen. There is no website, just a phone number: 0039 338 929 9036
FOLLONICA
Located directly on the promenade with a wonderful view of the sea, the Sottomarino is one of the most traditional restaurants in the city. The chef comes from Sicily and conjures up the best fish dishes far and wide. Reserve a space on the terrace as early as possible to enjoy the view (as a side dish).
CASTIGLIONE DELLA PESCAIA
If there is something to celebrate, or if you are looking for a particularly beautiful ambience in addition to excellent cuisine, then Molo16 at the port of Castiglione della Pescaia is the right place for you. The floor-to-ceiling open windows and the cries of the seagulls give the impression of sitting directly in the harbor. The wine list is extensive and the employees are internationally experienced. Top quality in every way.
PORTO ERCOLE
Even if the name sounds anything but Italian, the Hosteria Alicina near the port in Porto Ercole is my personal favorite, due to the freshness of the products, the excellent wines and the intimate space, a kind of covered terrace. This creates the feeling of being in a friend’s living room, which I find very pleasant.

MY ADVICE
If you come close to Argentario, I recommend renting a day trip with a motorboat (rentable without a license) and exploring the most beautiful beaches and bays of Argentario. My friend Silvano from Idroboat has a large selection and knows the area like the back of his hand.
If you are traveling with the whole family, I recommend our article on the most beautiful beaches for families in the Maremma (internally linked to the article).
