Love at first sight in the hear of Pietrasanta
I still remember the first time I walked through the door. It was love at first sight.
There was something impossible to explain—a feeling more than a vision. The house had a soul. Hidden in the very heart of Pietrasanta, only a few steps from its beautiful piazzas, artisan workshops, galleries and wonderful restaurants, it possessed a quietness that felt almost magical. And then I discovered the garden.
Private gardens in the historic center are incredibly rare, and this one completely stole my heart. A magnificent bougainvillea seemed to flow into the garden like a wave of vibrant flowers, filling the space with colour, fragrance and life. At that moment I knew I had found something truly special.
As a Danish designer working with natural stone and timeless interiors, I immediately saw what the house could become. My vision was never to redesign it completely, but to reveal its character—to create a home that felt as though it had always existed exactly this way.
The biggest transformation was opening the living space to the garden. Today, an almost entire wall of glass disappears into the architecture, allowing the outside to become part of the interior. Morning light floods the living room, the bougainvillea becomes a living painting, and every season feels connected to the house.
I chose large anthracite marble floors to give the spaces depth, warmth and elegance. Together with carefully crafted stucco details, they create an atmosphere that feels timeless rather than new—classic without being formal, contemporary without losing its Tuscan soul.
Every material, every colour and every detail was selected to bring a sense of calm and understated luxury. This is not a house designed to impress for a moment; it is a house designed to make you feel at home from the instant you arrive.
The garden remains my favourite place. It is hard to believe you are in the centre of Pietrasanta while sitting beneath the bougainvillea, listening to the church bells and enjoying complete privacy. It is one of those rare spaces where time seems to slow down. I have even added a swimming pool, making this hidden oasis even more extraordinary.
Today, I love sharing this house with guests. My hope is that they experience the same feeling I had when I first stepped inside—that instant connection, that sense of peace, and the joy of discovering a place that quietly captures your heart.
